In fact, many say that their inspiration is drawn from their everyday lives, despite the challenges they face. A new generation of Zimbabwean artists is trying to emerge, survive, and find international acclaim as there is such a small market within the country due to the economy.

Richard Mudariki, a Zimbabwean based in Cape Town, is creating a contemporary art fair to spotlight emerging artists in Zimbabwe that will take place annually in Harare and bolster its contemporary art scene. This, alongside the opening of the Zeitz MOCAA-Museum of Contemporary Art Africa in Cape Town, points to a re-emergence of African art on a global stage. Zimbabwe is full of fresh talent and the artists are eager to be successful.
